Recently the Deputy PM was reported as saying:

'We need to get tough on remuneration of executives'.
And they'd better watch out because the defintion of  'Clegg' is :
"a large swift fly, the female of which species sucks blood."

It's a funny old world!
An MP who, in 2002, was suspended from the House of Commons for one month after a Committee on Standards and Privileges inquiry
found that he had made false allegations against a former policewoman, is elected Chair of the Home Affairs Select Committee in 2010
and now has the responsibility for checking the probity of senior police officers!
I guess it takes one to catch one

MPs keep 'hands-off' in social worker scandal.
It is reported by Christopher Booker in the Daily Telegraph:
The latest official figures show that the number of children being taken into care by social workers (now averaging more than 800 a month)
has soared in the past two years by 41 per cent, to its highest ever level.
In many of these cases, it seems that children are torn from their parents for no good reason, to such an extent that
this has become one of the most disturbing scandals in our country today..
Why are our MPs not doing anything about this? Instead of grandstanding and strutting around
trying improve their own image in the current scandals?
This an area where they could really do some good but perhaps it's too much like getting involved in real issues!

Figure-hugging good high on the Liszt!

According to Ivan Hewett who was reviewing the First Night at The Proms :

it wasn't Liszt who was on everyone's minds; it was the young man in a figure-hugging shirt who came on to play Liszt's 2nd Piano Concerto

He failed, incidentally, to mention the attractive cleavage of the first bassoonist just to give a fairer balance!

Do we really need this kind of g a rbage in a critical appraisal of a musical event!!

The public brooks no comments from Prescott!!

It's a bit thick when a former member of parliament, now booted upstairs into the House of Lords for whatever reason, has the gall to make such a statement:

"Just heard Rebekah Brooks' has resigned. Thank God! It's another step closer to getting a more responsible press in this country"

Perhaps when all the MPS resign who were implicated in the expenses' scandal we shall be able to say: Thank God! It's another step closer to getting a more responsible parliament in this country"
